Read this Extra as two shelves. CONFIRMED is what CENTCOM, Jordan, BBC and Al Jazeera independently lock for Tuesday, 8 September. CLAIM is what the IRGC and Iranian state media say, including Wednesday Hormuz lines and Kuwait/Bahrain warnings. A claim is not a U.S. confirmation. Uncertainty is the point of the label.

CONFIRMED — attribution: U.S. Central Command, carried by BBC and Al Jazeera. CENTCOM confirmed the destruction of five Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday. Four in the Gulf of Oman, IRGC-linked. One near Kharg Island. CENTCOM’s reason: Iran twice targeted a U.S. warship with ballistic missiles over two days. CENTCOM said the ship evaded both and that no American personnel were harmed. BBC: five struck, one sunk. This Extra treats the five-hull destruction as confirmed. It does not have independent pictures of the two missed shots; that gap is uncertainty, not a denial.

CONFIRMED names — attribution: CENTCOM via Al Jazeera only. M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, M/T Riesco (Gulf of Oman); M/T Derya (Kharg). BBC named Riesco as the one that sank and said U.S. video showed it going down. CENTCOM said crews were told to abandon before the strikes, then the ships were rendered inoperable. This Extra does not add a sixth name. Cargo is unknown.

CONFIRMED — attribution: Jordanian Armed Forces, BBC, Al Jazeera. Missiles hit the file at a U.S. base in Jordan. Al Jazeera names Al Azraq. Jordan: twenty ballistic missiles, eighteen intercepted and destroyed, two down in unpopulated areas, no casualties, debris being cleared. That intercept count is Jordan’s. This Extra does not improve it.

ATTRIBUTED, overlapping, not a second U.S. list — IRIB via Al Jazeera: an attack near Kharg, crew evacuated, a second tanker hit near Jask. The IRGC later said five tankers were targeted. Kharg overlaps the CENTCOM file. Jask is Iranian-state geography. It is not a sixth CENTCOM hull. Uncertainty: IRIB is not an independent survey of wrecks.

CLAIM — not U.S.-confirmed, not independently sourced. Attribution: IRGC / Iranian state media, carried by BBC and Al Jazeera. The IRGC says it attacked two U.S. vessels, eight oil tankers, and ten “non-compliant” vessels in or near a Hormuz prohibited zone. Al Jazeera also carried IRGC talk of damage to two U.S. destroyers. Washington has not confirmed lost destroyers, eight burning tankers, or ten other hulls. Uncertainty: no independent wreck count. This Extra will not paint them.

CLAIM / WARNING — not U.S.-confirmed, not a hit. Attribution: IRGC / IRIB, carried by Al Jazeera. Iran warned that oil tankers near Kuwait and Bahrain should get crews off because those hulls will be targeted. A warning is speech. It is not smoke in Kuwait or a sinking in Bahrain. This Extra logs the words. It does not invent the fire.

CLAIM — hangars. Attribution: IRGC via state media, logged by Al Jazeera. The Guards say hangars used by U.S. fighter jets at Al Azraq were destroyed. BBC did not confirm that. Jordan did not. Uncertainty: no independent damage survey of the base.

CLAIM — submarine. Attribution: Iranian navy via BBC. They say an uncrewed U.S. submarine was seized in Hormuz. U.S. answer on the same BBC wire: a malfunctioned underwater drone, not a seizure. Claim versus denial. Neither is a trophy.
