Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority put the rescued at 13,583 by 8 September 2026. That is the number the desk leads with. It is not the end of the file.

NDRRMA also reported 1,357 bodies recovered in the flood-hit districts and 5,326 people still missing. Spokesperson Shanti Mahat gave those tallies. Among the missing, the authority listed thousands from Rasuwa and Nuwakot and hundreds of foreign tourists. The desk does not round those figures.

So far, 13,583 people have been rescued and 6,827 people injured by the flood have received treatment.
Shanti Mahat, NDRRMA spokesperson

Flash floods tore down the Nepal–Tibet corridor after an ice-rock avalanche sent the Bhotekoshi raging. Homes, roads, bridges and hydropower works went with it. Chinese media reported further deaths and missing on the Tibet side. Those are their numbers, not ours.

Security forces deployed more than 21,000 personnel. Army helicopters have flown more than a thousand sorties. Thirty-nine holding centres were housing about 3,500 people. Injured treated: 6,827, the authority said.

The rescue number will move again. So will the missing. Until NDRRMA closes a name, this desk leaves it open.
