MONEY / MACRO DESK — Three boards share one week: bitcoin stuck in a high-$70k band, Brent holding above $100, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics August Consumer Price Index due Friday 11 September at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. This Extra is a calendar-and-timestamp piece. It is not the Strive corporate-treasury Extra, not the Treasury $6 billion long-end buyback Extra, and not the Iran CBI FX/crypto settlement Extra. No allocation advice. No spot targets. No “buy the dip.” PATH /money/btc-holds-oil-100-cpi-week. DESK_ID btc-holds-oil-100-cpi-week.
Bitcoin: holds the ~$78–79k band on attributed prints. Named market wraps used for verification — CryptoTimes, CoinGecko-cited Digital Today, Moneycontrol, FXStreet — put bitcoin in a roughly $78,000 to $79,000 holding pattern into the 9–10 September window after an earlier push that failed to clear the low-$80k area. Cross-check marks only (do not republish third-party prose): CryptoTimes timed a high near about $79,742, then about $78,500 around 15:06 UTC and about $78,560 near 16:00 UTC; Digital Today / CoinGecko cite near about $78,591 (high ~$79,701 / low ~$78,308); Moneycontrol early 10 Sep slip toward about $78,060 then near about $78,340; FXStreet around or below about $78,000. Desk claim: BTC holds the $78–79k zone on those timestamps — not a CPI or Fed forecast.
BTC holds the attributed $78–79k band. Reuters keeps Brent above $100. CPI is Friday 8:30 ET. No PPI invent until BLS primary.
Brent above $100 — Reuters primary. Reuters, New Delhi, 10 September 2026: oil dipped on the day but Brent remained above $100. Brent futures were down about 0.7% to $100.50 a barrel by 0619 GMT; WTI was near $95.58, down about 0.5%. Reuters ties the premium to renewed U.S.–Iran shipping attacks and supply-disruption fears after months of conflict; dated Brent, per LSEG data in that wrap, has been above $100 since 3 September. Extra’s oil claim is the Reuters print — Brent greater than $100, with the $100.50 timestamp attached. Do not invent Hormuz flow percentages beyond what that wire carries, and do not merge tanker-route narrative from separate war Extras into this macro file.
CPI Friday — BLS schedule only. BLS’s published CPI release calendar lists August 2026 CPI for Friday, 11 September 2026, 8:30 a.m. Eastern. That is the Extra’s inflation clock. CAUTION on PPI: the BLS selected-releases calendar also lists August Producer Price Index for Thursday, 10 September, 8:30 a.m. Eastern. This desk could not read a BLS primary PPI HTML page at file time. Extra does not invent August PPI headline or core figures — MoM or YoY — until editors confirm the BLS primary release. Calendar presence is not a printed number.
Board table in plain English. BTC: holds about the $78–79k band on named wraps (CryptoTimes / CoinGecko / Moneycontrol / FXStreet — verify only). Brent: above $100; futures about $100.50 at 0619 GMT on 10 September (Reuters). CPI: Friday 11 September 8:30 ET — August 2026 (BLS schedule). August PPI: on calendar Thursday 10 September 8:30 ET — schedule only, no invented print.
Why the three boards sit together — mechanism, not advice. Higher crude can feed inflation expectations into a CPI week; hotter inflation prints and higher risk-free yields can raise the opportunity-cost bar for non-yielding risk assets, including bitcoin. Mechanism language only — not a trade plan. Extra stops at attributed prints plus named calendars.
Distinct ledgers — do not merge. Strive / Strategy corporate BTC filings, Treasury’s up-to-$6 billion 10–20y buyback Extra, and Iran CBI FX / crypto settlement (FT-reported) stay on their own paths. Cross-link those desks; do not paste their bodies here.
What this piece does not do: no investment advice; no BTC, crude, or rates targets; no buy/sell language; no invented August PPI figures until BLS primary is confirmed; no live spots beyond attributed, timestamped wraps; no rehash of Strive, Treasury buyback, or Iran CBI copy. Desk watch after the print: Friday 8:30 ET CPI from BLS; whether Brent holds the $100 handle on the Reuters board; whether BTC remains inside the attributed $78–79k band after the inflation release — report after, do not forecast.
CLAIM vs CONFIRMED. CONFIRMED as attribution: BTC ~$78–79k holding band on named 9–10 Sep wraps; Reuters 10 Sep Brent futures ~$100.50 by 0619 GMT / WTI ~$95.58 / dated Brent above $100 since 3 Sep via LSEG in that wrap; BLS schedule August 2026 CPI Fri 11 Sep 2026 08:30 ET; August PPI on BLS calendar Thu 10 Sep 08:30 ET with no invented MoM/YoY. NOT here: Strive filings; Treasury $6B buyback body; Iran CBI settlement body; PPI headline invent; tips or price targets. VIDEO=no. Nailed down, 10 September 2026, 07:40 GMT.
